Activities and projects planned by URBA
- September 19, 2024
As they do every year, this Thursday, September 19, the Belgian and Congolese patriotic associations CRAOCA (Cercle Royal des Anciens Officiers des Campagnes d’Afrique) and URFRACOL (Union Royale des Fraternelles Coloniales) will commemorate the fact that Belgian and Congolese troops defeated the Germans almost a hundred years ago during the First World War in Africa. The ceremony, enhanced by the presence of standard-bearers from the Ecole Royale Militaire, will take place at 11.00 a.m. at the Monument de la Force Publique, Square de Riga, Schaerbeek.
This year too, URBA-KBAU will join the ceremony.
- After the conference-debate on June 18 on Zairianization, the context and its effects 50 years later, we are delighted to announce a second public event, organized jointly this time with “Mémoires du Congo”, and with the support of the “Cercle Royal Namurois des Amis d’Afrique (CRNAA)” on Friday November 15, 2024, starting at 10.00am. The program features unique testimonies from people on both sides of the 1964 Congo tragedy: victims, field workers and witnesses. The session will take place at the Tervuren Museum, and limited opportunities for remote participation via Zoom have been provided, especially for our members and friends residing in Africa. Registration required.
