The King Hochschild hoax by Bruce Gilley

The American author of “A case for colonialism”, who was scandalously criticized by woke academia and even had to flee with his family because he dared to write that colonialism may have had beneficial consequences for the colonized, has since been rehabilitated by a more tolerant section of the academic world. Today, he continues his riposte with a scathing article on the recent “bible” of unqualified detractors of colonialism. This “bible” is the book King Leopold’s Ghost, written by Adam Hochschild, which all those who know nothing about the history of the Congo now consider to be the only source of truth.

Bruce Gilley’s article “King Hochschilds’ hoax”.

(King Hochschild’s hoax)

demolishes Hochschild’s entire book. Nothing remains of it: the clear scientific sources cited by Gilley demonstrate beyond any doubt that everything in this book is “fake”, that it is therefore an outrageous hoax on a massive scale.

I strongly recommend that you read this article, which isn’t too long: any knowledgeable Congo enthusiast will then feel comforted in his or her own version of the history of the

independent state of Congo

and the role Leopold II played in it.
